If you have a question about the law or the Law Office of M. E. Ludt, LLC that is not answered here, please call to schedule a free half-hour consultation with Matt.
How do I choose an attorney?
You want to use an attorney that you trust and communicate well with. Your legal rights are important and you need to believe that the law firm you hire will be able to assist you and advise you. Further, you want your attorney to appreciate and understand your concerns and, reciprocally, be capable of talking with you about your case so that you understand; the last thing you need at this difficult time is an attorney that talks over your head.
How much does an attorney cost?
It depends on what needs to be done and what type of case it is. Some cases, like car accidents, are done on a contingency fee basis meaning that you don’t have to pay any fees unless there is a trial or settlement award. Other cases may be done on a flat-fee. Its also common that cases are taken on an hourly-fee basis wherein a retainer, a sum of money that is paid to an attorney, is paid up front from which hourly fees are deducted as they accrue. The fees involved for your case will be addressed during the free half-hour consultation.
What if I don’t know if I have a case?
You won’t know unless you call. By sitting down with an attorney you will gain an understanding of whether you have a case and if so, what is entailed in pursuing the matter. You may be able to get your answer over the phone. If it requires more inquiry, the time spent talking with Matt in the office consultation will not cost you anything – the half-hour consultation is free.
